Is It a New Dawn for the Black Stars of Ghana?

LOOMING LIGHT FROM THE DARK STARS OF GHANA!

The Ghanaian National Team -The Black Stars of Ghana in the last decade have lost the love and hopes of the Ghanaian populace faster than they lost their matches.

It could be argued at a point in time that, the Black Stars of Ghana aside from Waakye and Gob3 were all there was to celebrate in a country that has been experiencing failures in many of its sectors.

With the team being at the center of every controversy, from corruption, discrimination, and nepotism, to holding the country at ransom with their lofty monetary demands, the Ghanaian people had lost and buried in their minds what was once a national treasure.

This was evident as some Ghanaian fans took to social media to advertise the Ghana Black Stars Team for sale at a price of Ghc1 (0.07 cents USD), while others teased at the stars with photoshopped pictures waiting with stones at the Kotoka International Airport for their return.

The Star’s participation in tournaments, whether the African Cup of Nations or the World Cup, has always brought mixed feelings and eventually a lot of pain and for some even hatred, and citizens have started asking really the usefulness of the team.

Ghana’s economy is at its all-time low and the country is facing serious hardship at the moment with inflation at its all-time high. The Ghanaian cedi is the worst-performing currency against the USD.

One would have thought this was the reason the stars didn’t cover the headlines going into the World Cup tournaments in Qatar, but beating Switzerland in a friendly match by 2 goals to nil and dressing all out in the beautifully made Ghanaian traditional wear for royals- the Batakari / Fugu paints a new dawn for the Ghana Black Stars and its leadership. The Batakari/Fugu or as it’s popularly called around the globe the Ghanaian Smock is produced in the Northern part of Ghana. It is made from a mixture of a dyed and undyed cotton loom. The fugu is a symbol of royalty, power, influence, and importance.

Their outfit and posture are beginning to restore the hopes and love of the people of Ghana and the world as they demonstrated an act of purpose and nationalism going into the tournaments.

Seeing the Black Stars in those stunning batakari/fugu wears with big broad smiles and really great inscriptions were heartwarming.

Finally, there appears to be some looming light coming from the then Dark Stars of Ghana.
